New School Year

Today is my first born's first day of the first grade. She had an "awesome day" and was thrilled to see 4 friends from kindergarten in her new classroom. Kim took her to school and walked her inside before being dismissed with the wave of a hand. Madison had a great experience in her new classroom and we are so happy.

In preparation for the first day of school, everyone had a nice bath followed by an appointment in the salon-de-mommy chair to get their hair combed. Here is Morgan in her beautiful bathrobe from Julie.

We had a kindergarten playdate on Saturday after everyone found out who their first grade teacher would be. Only the girls showed up and the big surprise of the day was the appearance of Mrs. Voss, who is expecting her first baby. The kids were thrilled and we had a great time at Jungle Java.

McKenzie turns 4

I can't believe our sweet baby is turning 4 on Tuesday! We celebrated her birthday with a pool party yesterday and it was loads of fun. Hot, but loads of fun. Her best friend, Ellah, fulfilled all of her BFF duties by bringing McKenzie presents to open despite the fact McKenzie was more interested in eating cake than actually opening presents. You know what they say about kids who are adopted - they always find their way to the right family. Never has this been more true than in McKenzie finding her way to the child of a Golden!

Here is the birthday gang playing in the water on an absolutely gorgeous day.

We were thrilled to have the Village present, though we missed Karen and Lisa terribly. I feel certain Nenee can cancel her gym membership after throwing kids in the pool for as long as she did!

The cake was a big hit, especially with McKenzie, who enjoyed every single mouthful, including the ones she wasn't supposed to have!

Maddie had a great time with friends Sean and Addison who were all in the same kindergarten class last year.

It was a great day and I am so thankful to everyone who took part in celebrating this child's life. Having Nanny and Pa here for the weekend made things darn near perfect. I found it ironic that Morgan wore McKenzie's first bathing suit to the party. I barely remember McKenzie being that small when she first came to our family. I am profoundly and tremendously thankful for McKenzie. I praise God for her life and I say a quiet prayer of thanks every day for Mary, who brought my baby into this world. Happy Birthday McKenzie!
