Halloween 09

It is another end to another Halloween. Madison went as a rock star, complete with white go-go boots that I searched high and low for. McKenzie was super girl/wonder woman. Morgan went as a lion and Malia had a last minute costume change, changing from a zebra to a frog. We left the house about 6:30 tonight with neighbor and #1 boy friend, Sean, and his dad, Alan. We went door to door for about an hour, at which time the babies were tired and the big girls were cold. It was a great night.

I Still Love Fall!

After the hottest summer on record and a severe drought, I am tremendously happy with the cool temperatures. Today was absolutely gorgeous. We picked up the kids early from school and took them to a new McDonald's in Pflugerville with an incredible outdoor playscape. Seriously, people, it is impressive even for McDonalds. We ate dinner outside and let the kids play for a couple of hours. Maddie made several new best friends who were difficult to leave. McKenzie went back and forth between the baby playscape and the big kids. Morgan had an absolute ball in the baby area. It was a great night for sure and it was wonderful to be outside in the fresh air.

Malia had a rough day after a 2 hour visit with birth parents. She didn't cry much but had an upset stomach the rest of the night. It did my heart good to see her laugh and smile during dinner.

Another Sister for My Girls

Here she is folks! Baby #4. I can hardly even believe it as I read the words I just typed. We picked her up yesterday from Aunt Bonnie's house and took a mini van full of people to the Elgin Pumpkin Festival, which was awesome. The girls had their faces painted, picked out pumpkins, took a hay ride, played and played and played. Some of our other favorite adults joined us for the day including Misty, Becca, and Becca's sister Claudia. It was an awesome day.

On our way back to Austin we stopped at the Southside Market, legendary for it's sausage and BBQ. This is the moment Kim and I began to think we had lost our minds taking a 4th child. The meal was an absolute zoo. I couldn't wait to get home. Only things got worse when we reached the house. The baby was scared and couldn't stop crying. Maddie and McKenzie missed their naps and Morgan couldn't figure out why the heck this baby wouldn't stop crying. It was a very long, dark night and I am happy to report things are much better today.

The new baby is unfamiliar with the concept of having a routine. Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Henry have worked opposite work schedules all of her life and there doesn't seem to be any conistency. She is very small, only wearing a size 3-6 months when she is actually 7 months old. We've asked our friend and Morgan's former ECI coordinator to come over this afternoon to give us a quick evaluation because I don't think all is right. She doesn't have much head or neck control, will not look you in the eyes, and is nowhere close to sitting up. We definitely have our work cut out for us.

So, are you wondering about a name? I am fairly certain we will name her in honor of our first black President, Malea. I promise to make a decision soon because I can't keep calling her baby. That's what I call Kim :) Today we will take her back to Bonnie's at 5 Pm. She will come home to us for good next Saturday and will start school with Kim on Monday. Thankfully she can be in Kim's classroom the way Morgan was. Stay tuned for the legal updates. And thank you for all the prayers and the love. We really need it right now.

There was a great playscape and the girls loved it. Even Morgan refused to ride in the stroller because she wanted to run!

Halloween Preparations

Only a few more weeks until Halloween and only a few more days until the baby comes home to us. These are exciting days! Kim picked up costumes for the kids today. Without a doubt, Morgan needed to be a lion since this is her FAVORITE sign to make. Even spell the word lion and she puts her hand above her head. So cute!

Madison is going as a charater from High School Musical.

We're still working on McKenzie's costume (Super Girl/Wonder Woman) so stayed tuned for updates.

I work late every Wednesday night and when I walked in the door last night, the house was dark and quiet. I found my girls in the backyard playing on the very old, falling apart swing set. At least it still works!
